Mermaids Sighing Affidavits
Harold Pinter, author of Betrayal,
Sat among the coals as dusk came down
Wishing that his boy, George, could be male
And creased his placid visage in a frown
If only he could once again be hale
And drain the Coptic cup, come wind or storm
Yet with the wind of passion in his sail
Astride his Muse, in semi-human form
