A limerick written by me
Is something no maiden should see
It's bound to offend
And bring to an end
Our banter and gay repartee
A poem should properly rhyme
So let's call this a lime, not a line
The rhythm should flow
Just ask E.A. Poe
When waltzing in 7-8 time
An ode should not be orotund
Pretension should always be shunned
One should keep it terse
The essence of verse
Harsh critics then will be stunned
Your scansion is woefully bad
You should be impaled by Count Vlad
Dissected in two
By a drunken emu
And then all the world will be glad
