Benedictine Evening Dresses
Poetic mis'ry in a name?
We spurn all other tales
Than those that tell her fame,
Then plummet off the rails
Into a climbing-frame
Misogyny, misanthropy
And sundry other misses
Rejecting their own kisses
Narcissus-like, they gawp and stare
Mistaking all intentions
And never think to pay the fare
Nor Polish 'uns nor French 'uns
Good intentions ill performed
And sundry other follies
Do not sweeten the deformed
Nor penetrate the dollies
And so, sweet ladies, time we call
And time we call again
Please leave at once this village hall
To huddle in the rain
