Coffee On My Yardstick
Coffee grounds in the sink, the drain webbed with hair
(What's the matter, baby? What's the matter, baby?)
Juice spilled on the floor, crud in the Corningware
(What's the matter, baby, do you just not care?
Goldfish in the toilet, lipstick on the mirror
(What's the matter, baby? What's the matter, baby?)
Mildew on the windows, fishtank none the clearer
(What's the matter, baby, breakdown getting nearer?)
Fruitbats in the attic, breadfruit in the cellar
(What's the matter, baby? What's the matter, baby?)
TV blaring out the umpteenth rerun of "Old Yeller"
(What's the matter baby, screaming in my ear?)
Sirens on the sidewalk, a knocking at the door
(What's the matter, baby? What's the matter, baby?)
Pills and booze and razors, just can't take no more
(What's the matter baby, unconscious on the floor?)
