Denied Dreams
The long body-swept grass
Is smooth, fragrant as the dreams of lovers
And makes nest where we
Indulge ourselves
And form new memories
Ones we'd already learned
For our senses sheet over
And nothing is ever what it seems
Winter's words now whisper
That nothing lasts but memory
I know now but your fading touch
Still brings echoes of autumn
