Urging My Example Slowly
She placed the diamond on her toe,
And asked me if I'd lick it
But I was bowing far too low
It simply wasn't cricket
She placed the ruby on her ear,
And beckoned with a glance;
But I was going for a beer
And looked at her askance
She placed the sapphire on her knee
And showed me her right breast -
But I was eating cheddar cheese
And so I passed the test
She placed the opals on her thumbs
And bade me stay awhile
But I, absorbed in tricky sums,
Could not disguise my smile
