Putresco's Wondering
Cartwheels begone! From shattered climes
The air-walker will come betimes
Thumbing his nose while, with his trunk
Inventing nostril rhymes.
Handsprings away! From Ganges' shore
The necrobatic wayzgoose springs:
Spurning the rhyme that went before
In search of something more
Headstands begone! From Plymouth bay
As flippancies attract, at the donkey's bray!
Wandering uncooth, silvan springs allure
Those still quite immature
Tumbling frumps! from Thames wet depths,
Whenas the Maenads sprang of yore,
While Triton's chariots all girdled for war
and traveled to the shore in perfect straight sets
The wailing fell on uncomplement ears,
Like unto those of the acrobat's years.
